Bio: Jason lost his parents in an accident when he was very young, which lead to him growing up in a cheap orphanage. He never had much, so he resorted to stealing, whether it was out of necessity or boredom, even Jason doesn’t know. Using his intelligence and strength Jason made a name for himself as a small time criminal. Fighting, running illegal items, and even getting into a few shootouts when he was older. However heat the authorities were cracking down on organized crime so Jason took to the stars. He used his connections to get a spot on a small smuggling starship. Jason wasn't used to space, he was bored and restless most the time. So in order to stop Jason from accidentally shoot a hole in the ship the pilot started teaching him how to fly. It became a real joy for Jason, especially when he got really good at it. The ship was old and hard to control but Jason eventually got the hang of it. After some time Jason got promoted to pilot of the vessel after the old one decided to retire and start a family, and they started to make some money. He even managed to get an implant while he was at it to boost his aim and reflexes.
Unfortunately this got the authorities attention. Eventually they caught up to them; Jason gave them quite a chase allowing the crew to bailout before he surrendered. However he did manage to impress them with his flying that they gave him a choice between joining the Earth Federation’s forces or jail. It was a no brainer for Jason. He breezed through boot camp and all the training except for the AMU program. The controls of the training mechs were to light and easy for Jason, who was used to a clunky old ship. He would just send whatever machine he was in spinning in a tumbling mess of metal. Jason realized what the problem was, and if he didn't act soon he was going to get kicked out of the training. There was an old super heavy mech on base, used mostly for target practice and running drills. Jason had the bright idea of hijacking the thing and showing his CO a thing or two. So one day during one a drill, the soldiers were shocked to see the super heavy mech fighting back. The controls came very easily to him, the cumbersome and heavy system felt just like the ship’s controls. Jason thrashed the rest of the trainees and got sent to the brig for a week, however he had made an impression. Not many people can pilot one of those things, especially with the ease and natural skill that Jason had. When he was let out he started training with the super heavy mech and was the top of his class.
He continued to impress his CO’s with his skills that he was done with his training and promoted to captain in record time. However his joy won't last for long. Ghost from his old life are starting to haunt him and some people are looking for a little payback.
Personality: Determined, quick thinking and resourceful. Those are the traits that made Jason a good smuggler and eventually a good pilot. He is also an opportunist when it comes to self improvement and making money. If he thinks that the reward is worth it he will take whatever risks he needs to. When dealing with other people Jason is generally friendly but never too trusting, to prevent any kind of betrayal. Can be very competitive and brash at times.
Important Possessions: An old laser pistol that Jason had since his smuggling days. It’s fast, reliable, and packs a good punch. It was taken from him when he was arrested, but right after he finished his military training he got it back to serve as a reminder of where he came from and how he started.

Gravitic Accelerator Railgun: Mounted on left wrist offers superior range and power over the strongest railguns.
Chest pulse beam: Very powerful beam fired from chest, drains energy rapidly.
Coil generated mega-beam canons: Two shoulder mounted mega beam canons.
Swarm missile launcher: Right thigh contains 50 lower impact missiles fired in rapid succession with little to no lock on ability. Capable of bombarding entire areas at once.

Defensive Tech: Depleted Uranium Armor: Expensive, heavy, and extremely effective. Disperses heat better than most metals, allowing it to withstand beam attacks more effectively, as well as offering superior kinetic defense. Its dense nature means it has a higher resistance to antimatter weaponry, but at the expense of speed and agility.
Pulse Shielding (Active) – Utilizes a pulse generator to create an impenetrable shield. The energy drain is tremendous, preventing the system from being used for any length of time without a heavy duty generator.

Digital (DIG) – The most commonly used control type, it is the AMU equivalent of power steering in 20th century vehicles. Is able to be hacked, but as far as AMU systems go, it’s easier to overload it with electricity. Boasts faster reaction times than the older mechanical systems, but at an increased energy cost and decreased cooling ability.
Plasma Thrusters – Advanced thrusters that are posed to replace hydrogen thrusters in all modern AMUs. More costly to use, but produce considerable amount of force.
Gravitational Anchor – A type of grav drive that fixes an AMU or ship in one place, preventing enemy attacks or recoil from sending the unit flying out of control. Increases damage taken from physical attacks, but can make defenses more effective if used properly.
Inertial Dampners – Prevent pilots of AMU’s from being exposed to extreme G-Forces. An ancient tech, it is implemented without a second thought in most AMUs, and is the origin of modern stasis tech.
Mega Fusion Generator – Five times the size of a normal generator. This bad boy has so much cooling around that if there’s a leak the whole mech would freeze from the inside.
Grav Generator – The generators used in all gravity manipulation devices. They drain a large amount of energy to use, but do not tend to overheat, making them a reliable choice for high power assault mechs.
Pulse Generator – Powers all Pulse Technology, which is reverse engineered from alien artifacts found on the moon. Insane energy cost prevents the tech from being casually mounted to AMUs despite the unparalleled results.
RADAR – Standard radar that shows the location of objects of size comparable to the AMU. High quality models can pick up small objects and/or distinguish between friends or foes on the radar screen.
LADAR – Light based sensor system, uses ultraviolet pulses to create maps and detect enemies. Most mines and traps use this to detect targets.
RADAR/LADAR Filter – An advanced filter that allows the user to use the RADAR/LADAR equipment aboard their AMU to create an echolocation-like imaging system. Use of this filter requires high quality sensor tech be outfitted to the unit, and drastically reduces the effective range of said systems while in use.
